FAQ

Which materials can be processed?

The Hauschild Speedmixer® units are suitable for the mixing of one-component and two-component silicones, polyurethanes, polysulphides, acrylates and many other materials. Many products not included in this listing can certainly profit from the technology of Hauschild Speedmixer®. As a result of the use of one-way containers, the danger of any contamination of paint master batches, pharmaceutical products or other sensitive materials is avoided, since no mixing components have to be cleaned in the devices. Both reusable containers, as well as more low-cost one-way containers, are available (which are to be recommended in particular if cross contamination can present a problem). The respective Hauschild Speedmixer® units also process greater filling-material quantities than the conventional mixing systems, e.g. 25% or more pyrogenic silicic acid in a silicone!

What quantities can be mixed?

According to the device, charges extending from a few grams up to a highest weight of 10000g can be mixed. The containers are employed with supports whose weight is designed so that the devices retain their equilibrium. Different container sizes are available (PP 5, 10, 15, 30, 50 and 100 g) in order to conform to your requirements and to minimize material requirement, where the actual batch size is tailored to the quantity required by you, and not to the requirements of the device.

Where are these devices employed?

The main applications are currently in research and development, in quality assurance tests and small-quantity production lots. With the incredible mixing and dispersal speed, sealing compounds, coating materials, plastisols or adhesives can be manufactured in less than 10 minutes! The weighing procedure currently presents a challenge, not the mixing/dispersal. With the Hauschild Speedmixer® the user also has the advantage that many repetitions can be manufactured which could not be tested with other systems for reasons of time. The Hauschild Speedmixer® units have proved useful for developments for which tests are to be implemented with regard to hardening, colours, consistence and appearance, as well as measurements of physical properties. Numerous formulations can be checked prior to any further development phase. With Hauschild Speedmixer® technology, there is a suitable container for every mixture to be created.

How can I check the speed of the device in order to avoid damage?

The Hauschild Speedmixer® is designed especially for the research and development sectors. Their speed is variable (300 - 3,500 rpm, adjustable using a rotating switch). In addition, speeds can be adjusted using the keyboard, avoiding use of the focusing screen, in order to process a series of charges with the required speed. With lower speeds, some effects of the strong centrifugal forces which act at high speeds can be avoided, e.g. the formation of frictional heat in sensitive mixtures or the possible damage of microenvironments.

What is the thickest or highest viscosity material the Hauschild Speedmixer® can handle?

We can mix anything including up to multi-million centipoises fluids. In India, we have done up to 22,400 Poise for Wind turbine blade resin

Will the Hauschild Speedmixer® ‘over mix’ my materials?

No, our variable speed machine can be properly programmed to offer a truly optimized mix cycle unique to your specific materials.

Is our technology scalable?

Yes, thousands of the products that you see and use everyday have undergone the product cycle of formulation, R&D, pilot scale in the Hauschild Speedmixer® and then scaled into production qualities using traditional mixing technologies.  The Hauschild Speedmixer® helps you formulate and find your desired material quicker and easier.

Do you only have lab scale mixers?

Our line of Hauschild Speedmixer® covers <1g up to 10kg and everywhere in between.

Are your mixing containers disposable?

You can choose to reuse or dispose of our mixing containers.  They are priced at disposable rate so that cleanup can be avoided.  Some customers mix, store, and even sell material directly in our containers.

How important is power when SpeedMixing?

Power, or spin speed (RPM), is the basis of our mixing.  Having adequate power is essential to ensuring a proper, repeatable, bubble free mixing of thick and thin materials.

Does the Hauschild SpeedMixer® actually remove bubbles when mixing?

Yes.  The motion of our mixing will remove macroscopic bubbles or voids from your materials in-situ during the mixing operation.  If you would like to remove microscopic, adsorbed air, solvent, moisture or other contaminants from your material, our vacuum SpeedMixer may be the best solution.  Contact us to compare vacuum vs. non-vacuum Hauschild SpeedMixer®.

Does the Hauschild SpeedMixer® have any blades?

No! The Hauschild Speedmixer® works on the principle of our original patent on the Dual asymmetric Centrifuge (DAC).

Does the Hauschild Speedmixer® DAC 150-DAC 800 SpeedMixer require using or adjusting a counterbalance?

No, our technology does not require the use of a counterbalance.  Thus the user is free from adjusting the machine for each mixture = faster mixing and no chances of user error from counterbalancing.
